Singapore hosts the first official geospatial industry event for South East Asia
Organised by Montgomery Asia, Geo Connect Asia will bring the industry together for 2 days of focused discussion and networking on 18-19 March 2020 at Suntec Singapore.
Come 2020, the pivotal position of geospatial information in the knowledge focused economy will be harnessed with the launch of Geo Connect Asia, a brand new trade event to be held in Singapore on 18-19 March 2020 at Suntec Singapore.
Focusing on a central theme ‘Global Solutions for Asia’s Geospatial Markets’, the inaugural exhibition will be supported by a series of conferences and seminars across various industry verticals such as asset management, building & construction, logistics, maritime, oil & gas, precision farming, mining, railways, smart cities and utilities. The plenary session will include a leadership panel enabling ministries and government departments from across the ASEAN region to discuss cross border issues and standards for the industry.
Geo Connect Asia 2020 is expected to attract about 2,300 visitors from the region and 65 participating companies from sectors such as aerial photography & surveying, building information modelling (BIM), earth observation & satellite, LiDAR, location intelligence, mapping & surveying technologies, remote sensing and UAVs.
Geo Connect Asia 2020 is supported by GeoWorks, an industry centre set up by the Singapore Land Authority, under the Singapore Geospatial Master Plan to bring together geospatial businesses, sectoral users, research institutions and the government to foster a vibrant geospatial ecosystem in Singapore. GeoWorks hosts 29 GeoTech companies, as well as 21 GeoPartners.
Mr Tan Boon Khai, Chief Executive of Singapore Land Authority (SLA), says, “We are delighted to support the launch of a new regional event that can drive the adoption of geospatial technology, applications and data in Singapore and the wider ASEAN region. Geospatial forms one of the key foundations that drives any country’s ambitions towards a Smart City, as it ultimately helps advance the country’s economic growth and productivity by improving business planning and resource management. GeoWorks was developed to encourage such an entrepreneurial approach towards the development of geospatial technology and applications, with the intent of sharing expertise and experiences between the public and private sectors.”
The event is also endorsed by membership organisations with a strong regional focus on the construction and civil engineering sectors, including RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) and ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers), as well as SG Tech, Singapore’s premier trade association for the technology industries and the Singapore Tourism Board.
