Dr. Kelvin Tang is a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia(UTM). He received his Ph.D at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia after completing a Bachelor of Engineering (Geomatics)at UTM and a Master in Remote Sensing & GISat UPM. Dr. Kelvin’s university studies were in the area of Geomatics and included imagery-derived bathymetry using satellite remote sensing approach.He started my career path inthe marine and hydro industry and government sectors prior to joining academia. Along the journey, he also accumulated extensive experience in the cadastral and hydrographic surveying areas. Apparently, he serves as the Chair of Working Group 4.4 Hydrospatial Domain & Marine Administration under the FIG Commission 4 - Hydrography. This working group assists in the development of indigenous hydrospatial data infrastructure management (HDI/MSDI). Its aimsare to promote best practices in hydrospatial domain development and administrationand engage with international government and non-governmental organizations to increase the understanding and awareness of the importance of marine spaces.
